He rarely speaks publicly about his views, preferring to let his wife take center stage. As Brunt recalled during an episode of "The Megyn Kelly Show" in November 2022, Kelly was getting full-time protection from a private security team because the stalker posed a credible threat.

According to Brunt, he and Kelly were "chaperoned like a couple of high school sophomores going to the prom" during their first date.

Today, he also hosts the podcast Dedicated with Doug Brunt, where he interviews bestselling authors while sharing a drink of their choice.

Their relationship wasn’t always easy, especially in the early days. Kelly had a stalker at the time, so their first few dates were chaperoned by security guards.

They scoped out the bar where Brunt was waiting and, after giving their approval, she walked in to meet the man who would change her life.

Unlike the flashy, overconfident men she had been drawn to in the past, Brunt was reserved, quietly confident, and, most importantly, completely unshaken by her strong personality. Grab your favorite drink, join the conversation, and let’s make this a memorable send-off.'

'But I figure someone had to stand up,' he said, titling the video: 'Megyn Kelly...Girl, Bye!'

'Especially for women, who [Kelly]  insults on an almost daily, weekly - whatever - basis.

'She's supposed to be some big proponent of women's rights,' he continued, explaining his recent barrage of videos.

'The reason that I [responded] is because I never take glee in anyone's downfall.'

He went on to hone in on Kelly's own firing from NBC - a decision triggered by her suggesting it was OK for white people to wear blackface at Halloween.

'Talking about Megyn Kelly, I didn't take glee in her downfall when she was fired from NBC,' Lemon said.

'I had to report on it as a journalist but I didn't take glee in the downfall.

'And if you look back, I said, you know, NBC is a to blame here - so I gave her the benefit of the doubt.'

He then brought up more recent claims from Kelly that he himself was using controversy surrounding Reid's firing to stay relevant, insisting that was not the case.

Lemon - who is gay and also married - told Kelly to 'tell [her] husband to stop looking at my husband...

Lemon, meanwhile, tuned in to Reid's final broadcast Monday, joined by his husband. Can’t imagine living this life with anyone else.” Their secret? Kelly and Brunt met on a blind date and were engaged just over a year later, marrying in 2008.

Surrounded by 130 guests, Kelly walked down the aisle in an ivory gown, the event officiated by her Fox News colleague, Kelly Wright. It's weird, okay.'

Lemon offered no further context or detail on the alleged stares that have offended him and was mocked online for the petty remark.

Kelly has been happily married to Brunt, an author, since 2008, while Lemon married realtor Tim Malone last year.

Instead, his focus is on his writing, his podcast, and their children.

Through it all, their marriage has remained solid. The two are seen here in Manhattan, after tying the knot in April of last year

He also added how Kelly - now the host of her own radio show and podcast - 'has become a troll now', suggesting suggesting her takes are a means of obtaining headlines

'I believe that the evidence is there.

'I am actually embarrassed for her,' he added, before questioning her style of journalism.

'Let’s laugh, cry, and celebrate Joy’s journey together'

Days before, the host of SiriusXM’s 'Megyn Kelly Show' offered Joy Reid a not-so-friendly farewell in the form of the following message: 'Good riddance to the absolute worst person on television, and shame on NBC for letting it go on this long.'

Kelly said she enjoyed a video of Reid crying after her firing - and highlighted how Reid had once boasted of enjoying 'white women's tears'.

In her X bio, Kelly writes how she is 'Happily married to Doug, crazy in love with my children [and is a] journalist'.

'Go f**k yourself,' Lemon said in response to Kelly's jibes about Reid - in one of many more-than-hour-long videos posted to his channel on Monday and Tuesday.

Don Lemon issued a bizarre warning to Megyn Kelly's husband Doug Brunt in a rant posted online earlier this week

Otherwise, I would not do this interview.'

Initial plans for the show - still then on its first episode - were called off within hours. Brunt recalls feeling like they were being monitored by a team of bodyguards, which made for a rather awkward moment.

The following day Lemon filmed him and his husband tuning into Reid's final broadcast, to offer a more uplifting farewell.

'Join me for a very special Lemon Live Watch Party as we bid farewell to the incredible Joy Reid,' he wrote in an accompanying caption.

'Let’s laugh, cry, and celebrate Joy’s journey together.

His transition from tech CEO to novelist was partly inspired by conversations with Kelly, who saw his talent before he did. They first met in 2006 following her nasty divorce from ex-husband Daniel Kendall. Back in 2006, she was a rising star in broadcast journalism, and he was the CEO of the internet security firm Authentium.

Brunt describes Kelly as “the most self-aware person” he knows, always striving to strengthen relationships, whether with him, their kids, or her family.
