Gay wedding at mar-a-lago

Donald Trump, who has spent much of his second presidential term dismantling LGBTQ+ rights, allegedly once explained his support for queer people in the most transactional way possible.

According to a New York Times feature on “Donald Trump’s Big Gay Government,” an unnamed associate recalls Trump saying of marriage equality in the run-up to his first presidential bid:

“I love the gays.

Not here.”

The podcast host shared a video of Trump entering the reception and their exchange on social media on Nov. 15, paired with a lengthy caption.

“Last night, at my friend Mike Wilkerson’s wedding at Mar-a-Lago, the President showed up,” he wrote in the caption. As the host, the model pulled out a winter-white set from Thierry Mugler’s Autumn/Winter 1994 collection: a fur-trimmed blazer with a matching miniskirt.

It started out with a joke between them, as they were looking at wedding venues: “Can you imagine a wedding a Mar-a-Lago?”

The National Log Cabin Republicans, a pro-gay rights group, had hosted two galas at Mar-a-Lago before, once in 2020 and again in 2022, so they decided to see if a wedding there would be “in the realm of possibility.”

The couple, John Sullivan and Dan Medora, reached out to good friends and members of Mar-a-Lago Bill White and Bryan Eure, who then reached out to former President Donald Trump and his team.

Trump had just returned from Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC).

They said the staff was also so warm to them and shared stories about Trump.

“We got to know a lot of people and when we had the actual ceremony, [as we were] at the top of the stairs getting ready to come down, the entire staff was lined up, and they were smiling.

They said since their wedding, they have ironically experienced hate from the gay left.

“A lot of the most negative and nasty comments come from others in the gay community,” Medora said.

For his actions and his comments about going to heaven, a fourth person described him, writing, “The guy is truly unhinged.”

But his habit of crashing events he wasn’t invited to at Mar-a-Lago goes way back, including another wedding at the luxury resort in October.
