RUSSELL: What was on the mood board when you were coming up with the concept for the “Wassup” music video?

Last week, Miko was honored with the Impact Award at the 2024 Billboard Women in Music event in Los Angeles, CA, where she made headlines for her acceptance speech on self-love.

Rapper Young Miko scored her first Billboard Hot 100 entry this summer and served as an opening act for reggaeton superstar Karol G. And Dembow emcee Tokischa teamed up with Miko on the sensual Bad Gyal single “Chulo pt. and I’ve been writing or drawing nonstop.

RUSSELL: I remember reading an interview where you said that it was 11 p.m.

His chart-topping debut album “Ivory,” released in April 2022, saw Apollo draw upon the sounds of his Latin heritage to soundtrack his musings on gay romance, from boasting about boys on the Latin trap-infused “Tamagotchi” to lamenting heartache on the corrido-inspired “En El Olvido.”

As a songwriter, Apollo grew into this confidence about his queerness after struggling with a religious upbringing.
